First-Time Homebuyer Education is required for first-time home buyers. First time home buyers have not purchased or financed a home within the past three years.
Consider our standard mortgage if you’re constructing a new house, buying an existing home, or refinancing your home, including mobile and modular homes.
HUD sECTION 184 mORTGAGES
A Section 184 mortgage can be used to purchase or refinance a house, mobile home, or modular home, both on- or off-reservation. Section 184 mortgages carry additional qualifications, including, but not limited to:
- No late payments on any accounts in the past 12 months
- Collection accounts must be paid in full 12 months prior to application
- Borrower must have two full years of employment history, with no gaps.

Down Payment Assistance
Don’t let a large down payment stop you from buying a new home. FDDC provides down payment assistance to eligible Native Americans in Maine. Approved applicants will receive $5,000 toward a down payment on a home purchase. The applicant’s income must be at or below 120% of the current median household guidelines from NAHASDA . Approved applicants are expected to complete an 8-hour First-Time Homebuyer Education workshop prior to closing.
